When you read the title, did you also think of those squeaky little creatures you’d rather be rid of on the office floor? Then we really hit the nail on the head. We are, of course, talking about computer mice! These mice have become an indispensable part of office life. You might not stop to think about it, but you use your mouse almost all day long. You can’t do without it, but unfortunately, the use of computer mice also comes with disadvantages.
One in ten people visits their GP at some point with pain in the neck, shoulders, wrists, hands, or fingers. These symptoms are consistent with the occupational disease “RSI,” also commonly known as “mouse arm.” Fortunately, there are currently a large number of computer mice on the market that can reduce or even prevent this pain!
At our office, we work with various computer mice, and everyone has their own preferences. Below, you can read more about the different mice and their pros and cons!
The traditional Logitech mouse
Even in our office, these traditional Logitech mice can still often be found on the desks. The advantage of this mouse is that we are used to it. As a result, we often find it pleasant to work with.
Unfortunately, there are also some disadvantages to this mouse. The horizontal position your forearm assumes is unnatural and causes much higher tension in your wrist. This can lead to pain. Furthermore, you make many repetitive movements with the traditional mouse, increasing your risk of RSI.
The advice for this mouse? Use it in moderation and keep a close eye on whether you experience any specific issues. If you do, it is wise to look at other mice. Perhaps a new mouse will work much better for you!

Logitech Trackball Wireless Mouse M570 Anthracite
You don’t slide this Logitech mouse across a mouse pad, but leave it in the same place! You can move the cursor on the screen using the blue ball. You control this with your thumb. Apart from this aspect, this mouse works the same as a traditional mouse!
The advantage of this mouse is that it requires far fewer arm and wrist movements. Additionally, it takes up less space because it stays in the same place. And, a big plus: you can use it not only at your desk, but also from your comfy chair!
A disadvantage of this mouse, however, is that you have to keep a close eye on the ball and clean it regularly. After all, quite a bit of dirt can get stuck in there.
Ergonomic Mouse Fellowes Penguin
You move the Penguin mouse like a traditional mouse, but you adopt a much more natural posture. You hold the mouse like a joystick, giving your arm a more vertical position. As a result, there is much less strain on your wrist!
Want to switch hands? It’s easy! By flipping a single button, you can switch from your right to your left hand (or vice versa, of course). This alternation allows you to relieve your preferred hand.
The downside of this mouse? Due to the vertical orientation, you will probably need some time to get used to using it. Our colleague Kirsten also found it a bit tricky at first, but now everything goes smoothly!

Is that all? Certainly not! We have many more mice in our assortment, from traditional to ergonomic. Take a look at our webshop to discover all the mice!
