Gezond én efficiënt thuiswerken doe je zo
In the past period, the Netherlands worked from home frequently. It has demanded a great deal of adaptability from everyone. One way or another, it has affected the way we work. From ergonomic desks and adjustable chairs to working from home at the kitchen table. With our tips, we therefore want to inspire you and your colleagues to continue working from home in a healthy and efficient way.
Your chair
We often sit on a chair for hours at a time while working. And that is easily too long. More and more solutions are being found for this, from sit-stand desks to ‘active’ sitting on a balance ball. Therefore, ensure you have a chair at home with a rocking backrest and armrests. Pay close attention to the height of your chair. You have the best sitting posture with your legs at a ninety-degree angle.
Curious if you are sitting correctly? Take the test! Grab a sheet of A4 paper, fold it in half, and place it between your thigh and the seat of your chair. Can you easily remove the sheet of paper from under your leg? Then you are sitting correctly. This way, there is not too much pressure on your thigh, ensuring good blood circulation.

The table
In addition to the correct height of your chair, the height of your table is also important. Ideally, this is adjustable, allowing you to switch between sitting and standing. Is this not possible? Then you can choose to occasionally place your laptop on a bar or sideboard.
At a high table, you can use a footrest to maintain a ninety-degree angle with your legs. In any case, ensure that the top edge of your screen is at eye level to prevent neck strain. When seated, it is important that the underside of your elbow rests on the table.
Clarity
With busy children or other housemates around, it is difficult to stay focused and productive. Therefore, make it clear every day when you are and are not working. Not only to your housemates, but also to your colleagues at work. This way, you know when you can reach each other. This also creates clarity for yourself, enabling you to separate work and private life more easily. Working from home is simply different from working at the office. Therefore, do not set your expectations too high and remain realistic about what you can expect from yourself and your colleagues on a work-from-home day.
